Young Entrepreneurs’ Organization (San Francisco)
About the Client
The non-profit Young Entrepreneurs’ Organization (YEO) began in 1987 with a mandate to be the premier peer-to-peer global network for entrepreneurs under 40. There are 102 chapters in 34 countries with over 4,700 members. The San Francisco Chapter was founded in 1992 and includes members from industries as diverse as farming and web design.
Strategy
Despite its growth, YEO is still relatively unknown in many entrepreneurial circles. Since most prospective members are active information seekers, a public relations campaign is a cost-effective way of reaching prospects. Galvin Communications worked on a short-term project to get YEO San Francisco into the Bay Area headlines.
Results
Feature stories about YEO and its members appeared in the San Francisco Business Times and ANG Newspapers (publishers of The Oakland Tribune, Alameda Times-Star, The Daily Review, The Argus, San Ramon Valley Herald, Tri-Valley Times, and San Mateo County Times), with a total circulation of nearly 250,000.
Ten new members joined YEO as a result of reading the published articles. Furthermore, the articles have been posted to the organization’s web site and are used as recruiting tools for other potential new members.
