Young Entrepreneurs Organization - San Francisco
A case study

About the Client
The non-profit Young Entrepreneurs' Organization (YEO) began in 1987 with a mandate to serve as the premier peer-to-peer global network for entrepreneurs under 40. There are 102 chapters in 34 countries with over 4,700 members. The San Francisco Chapter was founded in 1992 as one of YEO's first chapters and has 70 members from ages 27 to 45 in industries ranging from fruit exporting to web design.

PR Strategy
In spite of its growth, YEO is still relatively unknown in many entrepreneurial circles. Since most prospective YEO members are active information seekers, a public relations campaign is a cost-effective way of reaching prospects. Furthermore, the media coverage can be posted to the YEO San Francisco web site and serve as collateral material for membership recruiting.

Results
In a short-term project, Galvin Communications generated significant features stories about YEO and its members that appeared in the Alamada Times Star, Hayward Argus, Hayward Daily Review, Oakland Tribune, San Mateo County Times, San Francisco Business Times, San Ramon Valley Herald, and Tri-Valley Herald. The total circulation that received these newspapers is nearly 250,000. The advertising equivalency value of these newspaper articles is $35,956.

Two new members joined YEO and other potential members are pending as an immediate result of reading the stories. The articles are now being used in the information packages given to YEO prospects and will soon be posted to YEO San Francisco's web site at www.yeosf.org.
